Silver arowanas are freshwater fish characterized by their long streamlined bodies and pearly silver scales. They have a long, tapered tail with dorsal and anal fins that extend down to the tail.
Size and Lifespan
Silver Arowanas grow up to about 36 inches in captivity. With the proper care and adequate housing, they can live 10-20 years. Maybe even longer!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 200 gallons for a single full grown Silver Arowana. They typically occupy the top level of the water column, although it can often be seen swimming and feeding in the middle and bottom levels as well. If you choose to have tankmates, consider large, aggressive fish that won't be eaten and won't be preyed upon.
Diet
Silver Arowanas primarily eat surface feeding carnivorous foods like floating pellets, live or frozen fish, insects, krill, worms and shrimp.
