Male Guppies are vibrant, hardy fish known for their striking colors and flowing tails. Guppies are sexually dimorphic, meaning there are distinct differences between males and females of the species. variety of patterns and colors makes them a popular choice for community tanks.
Size and Lifespan
Guppies grow to an average of 2 inches long, living between 2-3 years (sometimes even longer!) if cared for properly.
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 5 gallons for a trio of guppies. Offer plenty of swimming space and plants for cover. They prefer water temperatures between 75°F and 82°F. Male guppies are peaceful and make excellent community fish. They coexist well with other non-aggressive species, such as tetras, Corydoras, and rasboras. Avoid housing them with fin-nipping species or larger fish that may harm them. Keeping only male guppies together prevents breeding and reduces competition in mixed tanks. But given how quickly they reproduce, a 10- or 20-gallon aquarium would be more appropriate in the long run, unless you keep only males!
Diet
Guppies are omnivores that require a balanced diet to maintain their vibrant colors and health. Provide high-quality flakes or micro-pellets as their primary food, supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A nutrient-rich diet keeps their colors vivid and supports their energy levels.
