Barb: Albino Tiger

Barb: Albino Tiger

Puntius tetrazona albino

Albino Tiger barbs are freshwater fish known for their striking appearance. They typically have an orange or yellow body with four black vertical stripes, almost like a tiger's pattern! Additionally, they often have red fins and a red nose or face.

Size and Lifespan

Tiger Barbs grow no more than 4 inches! They typically live between 5-7 years with proper care.

Tank Size and Requirements

We recommend a tank that is 30 gallons for a school of these barbs. They typically occupy the top and middle level of the water column, although it can often be seen swimming and feeding in the middle and bottom levels as well. It is safe to keep with medium sized fish. Be weary of fish with longer fins with these guys! Tiger Barbs are schooling fish, so the minimum you would want to keep together is 6 to avoid stress. They can be a bit tricky, but the more you keep the less nippy they will be!

Diet

Albino Tiger Barbs will thrive and remain very colorful on a varied diet of omnivorous foods.  High-quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or live omnivorous and meaty foods will all be readily accepted. Feeding variety is key to maintaining optimal health and coloration!
