Threadfin Acaras, also known as Heckelii Cichlids, are known for their unique appearance. Their body is primarily white or pale pink, complemented by red or orange hues on their fins and around their eyes.
Size and Lifespan
Growing to an average length of around 8 inches in the aquarium. With the proper care, their lifespan can be between 5-8 years!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 40 gallons for a singular specimen. Threadfin Acaras do better when they are in small schools, at least 3 being the minimum. They work well with a variety of fish and do best in a non-aggressive community!
Diet
Threadfin Acaras are omnivorous fish, they thrive on a mix of foods. High-quality pellets or flakes designed for tropical fish can serve as a staple diet, providing essential nutrients. However it is highly recommended to supplement their diet with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
