Apistogramma hongsloi, also known as Hongslo's Dwarf Cichlid, are known for their colorful appearance, particularly in selectively bred strains.While wild forms have more muted coloration, bred strains often exhibit brilliant reds, yellows, and pinks.Males are typically more colorful than females, and may also develop elongated fins.
Size and Lifespan
Apistogramma Hongsloi grow to an average length of around 3 inches in the aquarium. With the proper care, their lifespan can be between 3-5 years!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 10 gallons for a singular specimen. For a pair or trio (1M2F), at the very least a 20 gallon! They work well with a variety of fish and do best in a non-aggressive community!
Diet
Apistogramma Hongsloi are omnivorous fish, they thrive on a mix of foods. High-quality pellets or flakes designed for tropical fish can serve as a staple diet, providing essential nutrients. However it is highly recommended to supplement their diet with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
