The Blood Red Jewel Cichlid is a striking freshwater fish known for its vibrant red coloration and blue-green spots, particularly along their flanks and fins.
Size and Lifespan
Growing to an average length up to around 6 inches in the aquarium. With the proper care, their lifespan can be between 5-7 years!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 30 gallons for a pair of these beauties, bigger if you plan to keep them in a community setting. They can be kept with other peaceful and semi-aggressive fish that are too large to be eaten, but small, delicate invertebrates like dwarf shrimp should be avoided.
Diet
Blood jewel cichlids are omnivorous fish, they thrive on a mix of foods. High-quality pellets or flakes designed for tropical fish can serve as a staple diet, providing essential nutrients. However it is highly recommended to supplement their diet with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
