Red Head Tapajos Geophagus are cichlids known for their vibrant coloration, particularly the bright orange red heads .They also have a silvery-yellow body with vertical bars and iridescent gold to green scales on their flanks.Their fins have iridescent gold-green to orange-red markings and a black ocellus spot.
Size and Lifespan
Growing to an average length of around 8 inches in the aquarium. With the proper care, their lifespan can be between 5-8 years!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 40 gallons for a singular specimen. A bigger tank is needed for a small group. Red Head Tapajos do better when they are in small schools, at least 3 being the minimum. They work well with a variety of fish and do best in a non-aggressive community!
Diet
Red Head Tapajos are omnivorous fish, they thrive on a mix of foods. High-quality pellets or flakes designed for tropical fish can serve as a staple diet, providing essential nutrients. However it is highly recommended to supplement their diet with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
