One of the few true freshwater gobies, the Bumblebee Goby is a very colorful, interesting oddball fish that is sometimes available in the aquarium hobby. The Freshwater Bumblebee Goby is very small, but it certainly has a personality that can sometimes be very consistent with its “grumpy” facial appearance, almost like a betta!
Size and Lifespan
Growing to an average length of around 2 inches in the aquarium, the bumblebee goby is well-suited for a community-style tank. With the proper care, their lifespan can be between 3-4 years!
Tank Size and Requirements
We recommend a tank that is 10 gallons for a pair of bumblebee gobies. They work well with a variety of fishes. Just make sure that nothing will eat them. If a group of gobies is desired, it should contain at least 6 specimens to ensure that any aggression is spread between the group rather than directed at one specimen.
Diet
Carnivorous. Frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, Mysis, Cyclops, Daphnia, and Tubifex. Will not typically accept dry foods.
