Mystery snails are freshwater snails known for their distinctive appearance. The shell is spiral-shaped and can be found in a variety of colors, including purple, blue, ivory, and black. Some shells may have solid colors, gradients, or patterns. The body is typically dark gray or black, with orange accents around the eyes.
Size and Lifespan
Mystery snails get to about 2 inches! With proper care, they can live 3-5 years. Sometimes even longer!
Tank Size and Requirements
For one to two mystery snails, a minimum tank size of 10 gallons is recommended. A 5-gallon tank can work for a single snail, but a larger tank is preferred for optimal space and easier maintenance, especially as the snail grows.
Diet
Mystery snails are omnivores and enjoy a diverse diet of algae, biofilm, fish food, decaying plant matter, and blanched vegetables like zucchini, kale, and spinach. They also benefit from commercially available snail food, algae wafers, and calcium supplements to maintain their shells.
